Before I was even born I think my destiny to ride motorcycles was written. My Grandma had a bit to do with bikes at an early age, my father rode for years before I was born and even my mother took to the roads. With my early years being in the sidecar on Dad's Honda Goldwing (this being a model before they became cars on 2 wheels,) as a teenager I progressed to a small quad that I rode almost every day on the hill and paddocks around Bellbrae. But it wasn't until I met a certain person, that at last I made it to the road. Below are some pictures of the bike that helped me meet my boyfriend and has given me many pleasurable km's on the black stuff.

A road close to my current home, proved on a few occasions to be a good road to practice my riding skills on. Mountain Hwy from Sassafrass to Olinda is a short 11km stretch of fairly twistie road. Although also frequented by many a slow moving Sunday driver, its close enough to civilisation and short enough for a new rider to be the perfect spot to practice cornering skills. These photo's were taken by a friend as we took it in turn to try and get some good photos of our riding skills.

When after 14 months I saved the money and found the time to go for my licence, my boyfriend drove me nuts in the weeks leading to the important day, he told me he had a special present for me. Below is a shot of the present he gave me. On the day of my test, I had a hideous cold and it was raining all day. Part way through my test the instructor told me to do a few laps while he went and got his umbrella as the rain decided to come down much more heavily. Then as I rode around the traffic lights ready to stop for the second curve, I rode a little wide and hit the wet, muddy and slippery grass. The backend tried its best to slide out from underneath me, but I held it and passed my licence test by a mere one point. If it had been a little stronger on that day, I'm sure this gift would have ended up over my partners head!
The second picture above is of the day my partner got his bike and little across was passed down to me. The Triumph with its sports exhaust had a wonderful deep grumble and it is a similar model (being the Sprint RS) that I long to one day upgrade to. In the pictures below I try to pass my passion to others around me, starting young the middle picture is of a young family friend named Ethan. When I used to babysit him, he loved the bike and would stand at the door until he was allowed to have a sit on the bike, pointing to the boot and pressing the horn.

This last set of 3 pictures is of a protest ride I joined. Run by the MRAA a large group of riders rode from the intersection of the Eastern Freeway & Springvale Road into the CBD, at no point splitting or filtering, demonstrating to the public and media what effect laws banning motorcycles from splitting could have. Of interest on the day was the number of car drivers that choose to illegally drive in the transit lanes and emergency lanes.
